Jury Delivers Guilty Verdict to Jamaal Thomas for the Murder of Miles Armstead
OAKLAND, CA —Today, Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price announced that prosecutors obtained a conviction against Jamal Thomas (47) for the murder of Miles Armstead. The jury deliberated for one day and found the defendant guilty of first-degree murder for the shooting death of Mr. Armstead. Mr. Thomas was also found guilty of assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon with priors. The conviction also includes a gun enhancement.
Oakland teens will probably get to vote in school board races this November
Teens in Oakland are one step closer to casting a vote in November’s school board elections. The youth vote initiative cleared another hurdle on Tuesday when the Oakland City Council approved the ordinance to amend the city charter and enter an agreement with Berkeley, Berkeley Unified, and Alameda County to authorize 16- and 17-year-olds to vote in the upcoming school board elections.
Oakland Resident Found Guilty of Murdering Neighbor Following Months of Harassment
According to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office, the guy who was charged with shooting a father in East Oakland in 2020 was found guilty. Miles Armstead, a neighbor, was shot and killed by 47-year-old Jamal Thomas on May 1, 2020. The DA claimed that Thomas had been verbally abusing Armstead and his family for several months.
