    The sine wave, the basis of Tesla electricity and surfing at Mavericks of Pillar Point

    Waiting in line at a boutique coffee shop, Herb toys with an 8-inch bread twister.
    Remembering his days at Stuyvesant High, he forms the twister into a sine wave.
    The twister has a total length of 8 inches and forms one complete sine wave.

    To six decimal places, right of the decimal, find the amplitude a of this sine wave.

    (Hint: Newton’s Method of Approximations is one approach.)
