Upcoming 2024 Lineup at the Fox Theater - Oakland
Nestled in the heart of Uptown Oakland, the Fox Theater celebrates 15 years since reopening as a world-class live entertainment venue under the direction of Another Planet Entertainment. Oakland’s architectural masterpiece made its debut in 1928 as a movie palace, eventually closing in 1966 and remaining shuttered for over 40 years. After undergoing an expansive $75 million renovation of the space and taking careful steps to restore its jaw-dropping original details, the Fox Theater made its glorious return in February 2009, preserving its rich architectural heritage while evolving into a premier destination for live music and performances.
Spotlighting my favorite of Berkeley’s post night out dines
Whether you’re spending hours on the dance floor, talking with friends at the local bar or embarking on late-night journeys you’ve never attempted before, each weekend comes with memorable experiences after dusk. But I can only speak for myself when I say that more often than not, when the hour approaches midnight, I begin envisioning other less chaotic endings to my nights. Sometimes it seems as though I’m the only one that wants to leave. I don’t want to ruin the rest of my friends’ nights and have them think they need to head back with me early. When I rehearse how I want my exit conversation with a friend to go, my number one conclusion is, “Let’s get food.” You’ll never have to convince me. So, with my three years of Berkeley Telegraph and Durant culinary experience, I have found my tried-and-true drunk food establishments and would like to take a moment to spotlight them.

Tsuruya is a Simplified Ramen Oasis
From 2019 to 2021, Kimberly Gamble ran Lucky Bird near UC Berkeley. When the students, teachers and staff disappeared during the pandemic, she decided to try out a new menu and rebrand as Cousins, an Asian street food restaurant featuring her grandmother’s handmade noodles. Despite the updated concept and the student-friendly prices, Gamble closed Cousins last year. Chef Joe Sein and his wife, Ayako, have had similar experiences running restaurants in the Bay Area.
