Three Charged in Alameda Carjacking Involving Two Children
Charges include multiple felonies and firearm enhancements. Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price announced on Friday, June 28, that three defendants—Marionna Makia Haley (18), Isaiah Howard (18), and Sariyah Barker (18)—have been charged with multiple felonies for allegedly carjacking a woman with two four-year-old children inside a vehicle in the city of Alameda.

Multi-Agency Firefighting Efforts Contain Oakland/Berkeley Hills Blaze, Illegal Fireworks Suspected as Cause
A brush fire that scorched two acres of land in the Oakland/Berkeley Hills above the UC Berkeley campus was extinguished after coordinating multiple fire agencies yesterday evening. According to ABC7 News, the fire was reported just after 9:30 p.m. near Centennial Drive and Grizzly Peak Boulevard. Despite the potential for danger in an area dense with dry vegetation, officials stated that no one was injured and no buildings were threatened by the blaze.

There will now be only one measure on the November ballot seeking to reform California's Prop 47 after it appeared there would be dueling measures.Governor Gavin Newsom announced Tuesday the withdrawal of a democratic-backed initiative.MORE: Bay Area mayors Mahan and Breed join call for Prop 47 reform to crack down on theft, drugsCritics say the measure was weak compared to an initiative backed by business groups, which has already qualified for the ballot.It seeks to increase the penalties for certain drug offenses as well as retail theft.Approved in 2014, Prop 47 aimed to lower the prison population by reducing most drug possession offenses and thefts of property valued under $950 from felonies to misdemeanors.
