This year Commissioner Sharon McDonald and her volunteer partners been out and has literally passed out over 5,000 flyers walking the neighborhoods. Sharon has walked the inner city neighborhoods, Walker Road Area and beyond talking to residents about cleanup and encouraging them to participate.
This annual event is expanded with Commissioners Nick Paul, Warren Robinson and Mark Tapley joining the mix for a cleanup in their districts.
These 4 community focused city commissioners are collaborating to help clean up Alamogordo.
In addition to handing out flyers Mrs. McDonald had a float at the July 4th parade to further raise awareness to beautify and cleanup of Alamogordo’s neighborhoods.

Neighborhood trash cleanups are popular community service activities often celebrated around Earth Day, but they can be done any time of year as Mrs. McDonald demonstrates. These initiatives can revitalize and beautify neighborhoods while encouraging pride in people's communities.
