The AlamogordoTownNews.org team was on site to witness Alamogordo High School Tigers hosting Hobbs Friday night at Tiger Stadium. Going into this weekend game the Tiger Varsity boys are coming off a rocky season start with a record of 1 and 4. They were successful in double overtime during their homecoming game, but lost while on the road last week at Organ Mountain in district. The second half of that game they found strength when they slowed Organ Mountain to only 19 total passing yards throughout the game.

Visiting Hobbs this season is coming off a 6-6 season last year, but has a stacked deck with four offensive and six defensive starters returning. Head Coach Ken Stevens says his team is a little more athletically talented this season, but they still lack a depth of game experience. Hobbs is 2-3 and within the district are 0-1 after having its own disappointing loss last week, losing to Las Cruces 44 to 14 at home.

The Hobbs Eagles have talent with offensive and defensive athletes on both sides of the ball passionate to make a district win and compete for state. Hobbs senior quarterback Brock Beaty is a 6-foot-2 and 195-pound accomplished athlete. He has had 980 yards through the air and 14 passing touchdowns going into Friday nights game with the Tigers; where he will compete against the Tigers Nathanael Best who is very competent in leadership and play.

Alamogordo came into Friday's game coming off a wild two-game stretch. They took an 18-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights. The contest marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring game so far this season. Last weekend Dylan Hergenreder was a machine when he rushed for 124 yards on only 12 carries. The dominant performance gave Hergenreder a new career-high in rushing yards. Nathanael Best handled things on the ground, rushing for 104 yards.

Alamogordo was unstoppable in rushingground and finished the game last weekend with 249 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the Tigers team as they've now rushed for at least 157 rushing yards in seven consecutive matches dating back to last season.

The game Friday night against Hobbs was a game of difficult play. Hobbs Shamus Wright led the team to its first 21 yard touchdown run with Hobbs leading Alamogordo 7 to 0 with 10:27 to go in the first quarter. Next Brock Beaty pushed a 46 yard touchdown pass to Justice French and Hobbs then led Alamogordo further. The first quarter was brutal to Alamogordo with it ending with another score by Shamus Wright with a 6 yard touchdown run. Hobbs led Alamogordo 28-0 ending the first quarter.
