Over 5000 New Mexicans Under Evacuation Orders in Lincoln and Otero Counties, 8000 Acres Burned
The South Fork Fireand Salt Fire on the Mescalero Apache Indian Reservation, spanning Otero and Lincoln Counties is an active fire and moving fast. An immediate evacuation order was issued for the entire Village. Go Now issued at 7:38 pm on Monday, per the authorities of the Village of Ruidoso.
Update 2:30 pm: Evacuation Order Go; South Fork Fire Near Ruidoso Grows with Air Support
The Ruidoso Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is currently monitoring the South Fork Fire, which is burning on the Mescalero Apache reservation. The fire is approximately 2-3 miles from the Village of Ruidoso limits, specifically near the Upper Canyon area. According to the U.S. Forest Service (USFS), it is approximately 15 acres.
Bandisos Member Jonathan Bevins of Alamogordo Sentenced for Gun Possession
A federal grand jury indicted Bivins on Dec. 6, 2023. According to publicly available court records, on Aug. 31, 2023, the FBI and New Mexico State Police executed a federal search warrant targeting the Bandidos Motorcycle Club (BMC) at a residence in Alamogordo. Bivins, a member of the BMC, was located at the residence along with his motorcycle, BMC gang paraphernalia and thirteen firearms. As a previously convicted felon, Bivins knew that he was prohibited from owning firearms or ammunition.
