Albany mayor signs 'good cause' law protecting tenants (again)
Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan has signed a law opting into the state's new "Good Cause Eviction Law," becoming the first municipality in the state outside New York City to regulate the terms under which tenants in certain apartments can be kicked out of their homes.<\p> Sheehan released a letter to the news media Monday that was sent to the Common Council on July 5 announcing her approval of the law — a step that was anticipated.<\p>

A convenience store with a gas station is being proposed near the Stewart's Shop on Crescent Road in Clifton Park, just west of Exit 8 of the Interstate 87 Northway. Todd Drowlette of TITAN Commercial Realty Group LLC in Albany is seeking site plan approval for the 6,000-square-foot store, along with two other buildings with a drive-thru, at 1523 and 1525 Crescent Road.

The Mohican Resort Motel — on Route 9 near the Lake George factory outlets in Queensbury — sold last week, along with a boat storage building on the property. Paving and excavating contractor Chad Nims sold the resort at 1545 Route 9 for $2.7 million to Amit and Payal Kumar, according to broker Mitch Muroff, who had the listing for the property.

Buyers in June sought out homes on lakes with mountain views, secluded estates on cul-de-sacs and condos and townhomes with all the amenities. <\p> The top sales included a home on Lake George's Kattskill Bay, which was the priciest listing to publicly sell on on the lake so far this year, netting a price of $5.4 million. <\p>

A roundabout will be built in Clifton Park at a busy intersection near the shopping mall and the future site of a Bass Pro Shops store. The town has been awarded $3.4 million from the state to build the single-lane roundabout where Sitterly Road intersects Clifton Park Center Road, along with sidewalks on a portion of Sitterly Road to improve pedestrian safety, according to Supervisor Phil Barrett.
