'Find Out Friday' | Motorist arrested after fleeing 4-car crash in Slidell, violence against officer
SLIDELL, La. — The Slidell Police Department published a cheeky post on Facebook after a female motorist was arrested following a police pursuit Friday afternoon. The SPD, which used hashtags #FindOutFriday' and #SlidellsFinest, said the suspect "found out" that local police do not "mess around" when it comes to crime.

Hammond man sentenced to 20 years on series of domestic abuse-related charges
AMITE—A Hammond man has been sentenced to 20 years at hard labor after pleading no contest to a series of domestic abuse-related charges. 21st Judicial District Attorney Scott Perrilloux said that Michael Anthony Gutter, 40, of Hammond has pleaded no contest to one count of possession of a firearm by a person previously convicted of domestic abuse battery, two counts of domestic abuse aggravated assault, one count of domestic abuse battery - third offense, and one count of false imprisonment with a dangerous weapon.

Two arrested for vehicle burglaries in Ponchatoula
On July 18, 2024, Ponchatoula Police responded to multiple calls regarding suspicious activity in the area of Beech Street. Upon arrival, officers were able to locate one male juvenile and 18-year-old Tyler Anthony Kimble. Upon further investigation, it was learned that a firearm was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the same area. Detectives were able to locate and recover the stolen firearm. Kimble was arrested for the following charges and transported to Tangipahoa Parish jail.

Community: ICC hosts 'tropical getaway' social; Fair gives $5,000 to Alzheimer's center
Inter-Civic Council of Greater Baton Rouge held a tropical getaway-themed summer social on July 10 at Mason’s Grill. Serving as event co-chairs were Kristin Rosendale, representing Kiwanis Club of Ascension, and Kelsi Wallin, representing The Hospice of Baton Rouge.
