Residents, political analyst weigh in on President Biden's election dropout
BATON ROUGE - Two Baton Rouge residents said they are relieved that President Joe Biden is ending his campaign for re-election and supporting Vice President Kamala Harris. "I've been talking to a lot of friends and family. They said that they're not voting at all if Biden is on the ticket. Now I think this gives Democrats the opportunity to get out and vote," Tyler Legendre said.
Power in the voice: Marcel P. Black plays July 26 at Siberia on Real Emcees Don't Rap Over Vocals tour
July is International Stop Rapping Over Vocals Month, and Marcel P. Black is spending his summer on the road spreading the word: Real emcees don’t rap over vocals. Hip-hop means everything to the Tulsa, Oklahoma, conscious emcee who for years was the stalwart backbone of Baton Rouge’s underground hip-hop community. His longstanding mantra has been “#CultureOverEverything,” a call to both listeners and practitioners to respect hip-hop as an art form, a lifestyle and a tool to uplift.

Sullivan seeing sixth term as Donaldsonville mayor, council turnover coming
Leroy Sullivan is on the ballot seeking a sixth term as Donaldsonville’s mayor, opposed for the second time by Glen Price. Price’s 2020 bid to unseat Sullivan came up woefully short, winning 30% of the vote in a three-candidate election that Sullivan won without the need of a runoff. The challenger would seem to be better positioned than four years ago, if for no other reason than brand familiarity the second time around.
LSU leads the way in Cole Cubelic’s SEC offensive line rankings
Former Auburn offensive lineman and current SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic recently ranked the top offensive lines in the SEC. The LSU Tigers are No. 1 on his board followed by Georgia, Texas, Tennessee and Missouri. When you look at LSU’s offensive line, there are two huge reasons why the Tigers are sitting at No. 1 on Cubelic’s list. Those reasons? Will Campbell and Emery Jones Jr.. Campbell and Jones are two of the top five offensive tackle prospects for the 2025 NFL draft with Campbell being the No. 1 offensive tackle and one of the top five overall draft prospects. Combine those two guys with three other solid offensive linemen and the talent that LSU has on the offensive side of the ball and you have a recipe for what could be one of the best offenses in the country this fall. Garrett Nussmeier and the Tigers offense will try to lead Brian Kelly to his third straight 10-win season on the Bayou. No. 1 cornerback in Louisiana commits to Miami over LSU
LSU was hoping it could bring Jaboree Antoine back into the fold after his recent decommitment, but the No. 1 cornerback in the state of Louisiana pledged to Miami on Saturday over the Tigers. Antoine ranks as the No. 71 player nationally and No. 2 player in the state, according to the 247Sports composite, and the 6-foot-1, 170-pound New Iberia prospect was committed to the Tigers for nearly six months after pledging in January. He backed off that decision last month, however, and while LSU remained in the mix and cracked his final two, he was widely projected to commit to the...
