ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — Happy Monday! We hope everyone had a great and safe weekend celebrating the Fourth of July! According to Meteorologist Matt Mackie, today will be a toasty one with muggy conditions. Temperatures are expected to reach the low 90s.

One person died and another was rescued at Barberville Falls in Poestenkill on Sunday. The Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office says the person who died was a man not from the area. Also, the Saratoga County Department of Public Works will be replacing the West Milton Road Bridge starting on Monday. The bridge will be closed until about mid-November. A fundraiser honoring the life and memory of veteran Col. Edward Thomas Ryan took place Sunday. Last month, the U.S. Army veteran died at the age of 85. In his obituary, the retired colonel revealed a secret that he’d kept hidden for decades, that he was gay.

5. Albany Police investigating Grant Avenue assault

The Albany Police Department is investigating an assault that happened in the area of Grant Avenue and Hunter Avenue on Sunday morning. Officers say they responded to the area around 2:40 a.m. following reports of the assault.
