    18-year-old pleads not guilty in Albany murder case

    ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — The Albany County District Attorney’s Office announced that Eric Chapman Jr., 18, of Albany, was arraigned on Monday morning in connection to a 2023 murder case. Chapman pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

    The indictment alleges that Chapman caused the death of Javone Sims while on Third Street in Albany on June 22, 2023. He is also accused of having a loaded illegal firearm at the same location on the same date.

    Chapman was remanded following the arraignment. He is scheduled to return to court on August 2.
