ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — Two years ago, the Albany Rural Cemetery put out a call for volunteers after the cemetery had become overgrown due to the lack of employed workers mowing cemetery grounds.

Now, the cemetery is nearly unrecognizable with freshly mowed grounds and not a weed in sight. The cemetery’s new general manager said the rebounding came down to months of work on building a map of the cemetery along with a clear mowing schedule. Since he was hired in January, it’s shown results.

The cemetery has also been able to repair the central fountain at the center of Cyprus Pond as well as start the process of installing new memorial benches.
