ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — A new community solar site is set to throw a lifeline to low-income Albany residents racing the mounting pressure of electric bills. The facility is coming from non-profit Citizen Energy in partnership with National Grid where it will provide solar energy to families without the need for rooftop solar panels or changing their utility provider.

The project would allow for the creation of renewable energy without the high cost usually associated with making the switch from electric to solar. When completed, customers would save 20 percent on their electric bills.
