Deputies: Albany resident arrested on felony gun charge

ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — The Albany County Sheriff’s Office has reported the arrest of an Albany resident following a traffic stop. El Jahad Vickers, 25, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, they conducted a traffic stop on Sunday around 8:40 p.m. near Central Avenue and Colby Street after observing a traffic violation. Deputies say their investigation revealed that the passenger of the car, identified as Vickers, had a loaded semi-automatic gun.

The Sheriff’s Office says that Vickers had no legal right to possess the gun and was also found to have an active bench warrant out of Albany City Criminal Court for strangulation. Vickers was transported to Albany County Correctional Facility and will be arraigned on Monday.
