    Victim, suspect identified in Albany suspicious death investigation

    ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — Albany police have identified the victim and suspect of a suspicious death investigation. The victim was found face down and unresponsive in the road early Monday morning.

    Around 5:10 a.m., police were called to the area of Commerce Avenue and North Manning Boulevard after 41-year-old Donnell Lewis, of Albany, was found in the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

    Police said Lewis had been in a car with Ashley Mowatt, 33, in the area of Terminal Street and Commerce Avenue when they began to argue, and Mowatt allegedly stabbed Lewis in the neck. Police said she fled the scene.

    Police located the car, and Mowatt was later taken into custody. She was charged with one count of manslaughter in the first degree and three counts of tampering with physical evidence.

    She is scheduled to be arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court on Tuesday morning.
