Caseyville Teen Honored by Village for Being Congressional Gold Medal Recipient
At the Village of Caseyville Board meeting on August 21, Collinsville High School Senior Danielle Cary was presented a plaque from Mayor G.W. Scott Sr. and elected officials for being a Congressional Award Gold Medal recipient. This recognition has been a long time coming from the Village of Caseyville. She traveled to Washington D.C. in June of 2023 to attend the Gold Medal Summit and to receive her medal. Over 2 years, Cary had to log a minimum of 400 hours of voluntary public service, 200 hours of personal development, 200 hours of physical fitness, and a five-day, four-night expedition or exploration. The Congressional Award is the highest honor a member of the U.S. Senate or House of Representatives may bestow upon a youth civilian.
