5 things to do this week: Juneteenth celebration, truck show, Worth County Fair and more

Juneteenth celebration

Celebrate Juneteenth with the community at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at The Broadway. The event will feature local speakers, performers, refreshments and other fun activities. North Iowa-based comedian Day Peace will be the emcee. There will be an art auction at 5:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public and made possible by Riverland Community College and Albert Lea Recreation.

Worth County Fair

The 2024 Worth County Fair starts Wednesday and will be open through Sunday evening. There will be a variety of grandstand events, live entertainment, exhibits and shows. The cost is $10 for daily admission or $20 for a weekly pass. A full schedule of events is available at worthcountyfair.com.

Kiester Days

Join the community of Kiester for the town’s annual Kiester Days. There will be food, music, street dances, a car show, horseshoe and volleyball games and more. The parade will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, and local speaker Al Batt will be at the Kee Theatre at 1 p.m. Sunday.

SBR All American Truck Show

The Simply Built Rigs All American Truck show will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds. This will be a large display of custom trucks. Burnouts will start at 3 p.m. There will also be live music, food trucks and vendors. JJ Wise of Wise Auctioneering will emcee the burnout portion. Entry is $5 and free for children 12 and under.

‘Fiddler on the Roof’

The Albert Lea Community Theater’s production of the classic musical, “Fiddler on the Roof,” will debut at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center. The show will begin Thursday and run through June 30. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students. They can be purchased online at actonbroadway.com, by phone at 877-730-3144 (service fees apply) and at the box office.
