    5 things to do this week: Car show, tractor ride, art and garden tour and more

    Bigcats Customz car show

    Join Bigcats Customz Collision and Auto for their second annual car show. The show will be Saturday at First Baptist Church in Clarks Grove. Registration will be from 8 to 11 a.m. and the show will run until 4 p.m. In addition to the car show, there will also be food trucks, bounce houses for children and a bake sale in the church building. Proceeds from the event will go to First Baptist Church and the Clarks Grove Fire Department. Call 507-256-4356 with questions or stop in at Bigcats Customz during their regular business hours.

    Double-O Tractor Ride

    The Double-O Tractor Club will host their annual Double-O Tractor Ride Saturday. The event will begin with coffee and rolls at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. with tractors departing at 9 a.m. sharp. The tractors drive past all of the nursing homes in Albert Lea, as well as some of the town’s rural areas. Following the ride there will be a noon meal at the Albert Lea Moose Lodge, which is open to the public for $10. Entry fee for tractors is $45, and all proceeds from the event will go to the Salvation Army of Freeborn County.     Crazy Days

    Downtown Albert Lea will celebrate Crazy Days Thursday through Saturday this week. It will be three days filled with sidewalk sales, indoor sales and food trucks. Ron and Steve Unplugged will play live music at the Albert Lea Farmers Market from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.

    Art and Garden Tour

    See the beautiful gardens in Geneva this weekend during the Albert Lea Art Center’s annual Art and Garden Tour. This is a self-guided tour through participating gardens in Geneva that runs from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased ahead of time at Albert Lea Art Center, Addie’s Floral, Commerce Bank of Geneva and participating garden locations on the days of the event. Refreshments will be available in the park provided by Team Geneva.

    Film showing

    The Freeborn County Historical Museum, Library and Village will host a showing of the film “Buffalo Soldiers: Fighting on Two Fronts” at 7 p.m. Thursday. The film documents the story of the roles played by African American men who enlisted to serve their country despite Jim Crow laws at the time. It explores their struggles they experienced fighting military conflicts abroad and civil rights issues at home. The showing is free for museum members and $5 for nonmembers.
