The Freeborn County DFL held their annual potluck picnic in late June. Three candidates spoke at the picnic.

The first, Joe Staloch, is running for Minnesota House District 23A. Staloch grew up in Wells and is a current resident of Albert Lea. Staloch spoke about moving back to the area to be closer to family. He also spoke about the need for accessible health care. He said he will fight for freedom if elected, including reproductive rights.

The second speaker, Joe Pacovsky, is running for Minnesota House District 23B. Pacovsky lives in Hayward. He spoke on issues he is passionate about such as education, environmental health, farming, infrastructure funding and women’s rights.

The third candidate to speak, Rachel Bohman, is running for Congress in Congressional District 1. Bohman lives in Rochester, and is a former elected Rochester Township board member and former assistant county attorney. If elected, she will be the first female to be elected in Congressional District 1. Bohman said she wants to ensure that people can afford the essentials. One of her top priorities is ensuring that women have the right to control their bodies.
