The Albert Lea Public Library invites the public to learn more about birdwatching in southern Minnesota at its Bring Your Own Lunch and Learn from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday. The program will be held in the Council Chambers on the top floor of City Hall, 221 E. Clark St. There is no registration or fee required.

Environmental educator Amy Simso Dean will explain how easy it is to get started or get better at birdwatching (often called just birding). Attendees will learn how to identify local birds, set up a bird feeding station, select birdwatching gear and connect with the birding community. They will also hear about easy community science projects they can do that help support bird conservation, some as easy as drinking coffee or watching birds out the window.

This program is made possible by the people of Minnesota through Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Library Legacy fund, in cooperation with the regional public library system, SELCO.
