Area under tornado warning; confirmed tornado over Twin Lakes

Update (8:07 p.m.): At 8:02 p.m., a confirmed tornado was located over Twin Lakes, or 9 miles south of Albert Lea, moving east at 25 mph.

Weather spotters confirmed the tornado, according to the National Weather Service.

Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.

The weather agency states this tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of southeastern Freeborn County.

Update (8 p.m.): Tornado warning remains in effect in southern Freeborn County near Emmons and northern Worth County

Update (7:58 p.m.): A tornado warning has been issued in Worth County.

Update (7:34 p.m.): A tornado warning remains in effect until 8:15 p.m. in southern Freeborn counties.

People should seek shelter in their basements or in an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.

If you are outdoors, in a vehicle or in a mobile home, get to the closest shelter.

Update (7:25 p.m.): The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for Freeborn, Faribault and Steele counties through 7:45 p.m.

A severe weather warning has been issued until 8:15 p.m. in Freeborn Coounty.

There is radar-indicated rotation, the weather agency states.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for all of the area through midnight.

The watch includes Freeborn, Waseca, Faribault, Mower and Steele counties.

The Weather Service states showers and thunderstorms are expected and that some storms could be severe. The storms could produce gusty winds of 60 mph or more and large hail.
