    Construction updates: Portion of downtown alley concrete placed

    The city of Albert Lea reports the following construction updates for the week of Aug. 19-23:

    • Seventh Street and Winter Avenue reconstruction: No work took place on Seventh Street this week. On Winter Avenue, the contractor completed the sanitary sewer replacement on the south half of the project and is working on replacing the watermain in that area. Watermain replacement will continue into next week.

    • Fairlane Terrace area: Minor cleanup occurred this week with the landscaping subcontractor planning to start sod placement next week.

    • Greenwood Drive resurfacing and sidewalk: No work took place this week. The contractor anticipates work to start shortly after Labor Day.

    • Sibley Avenue and Marshall Street reconstruction: The contractor is trying to line up an underground pipe crew to start within the next two weeks.

    • Downtown alley reconstruction: This week the contractor placed the new concrete in the north half of the alley between East Main and William Street. Next week crews will begin grading and placing the concrete in the south half of the alley between East Main and College Street.
