Drone helps police find man in Sauk Lake
SAUK CENTRE, Minn. – The Sauk Centre Police Department says a drone played a key role in a weekend water rescue. Officials were called to a report of an intoxicated man who jumped into Sauk Lake near the Sauk River Dam early Sunday and began to struggle. Officers couldn’t spot the man from the shore and used the department’s drone to search.
Judge denies motion to dismiss charges in Willmar murder case
(Willmar MN-) A judge has denied motions to dismiss charges against a Maynard woman charged with murder in the drug-related death of a Willmar man in 2022. 20-year-old Mercedes Carpenter is charged with 3rd Degree Murder, 2nd Degree Manslaughter and drug sales for allegedly selling a Willmar man drugs laced with fentanyl in September 2022. The man was later found dead in his bathtub. Last week Kandiyohi County Judge Stephen Wentzell denied motions to dismiss all charges against Carpenter, and a settlement conference was scheduled for October 1st (10a).
