One of the many video highlights from TALKERS 2024: Radio and Beyond – “The Big Picture” – is now posted on the brand-new TALKERS MEDIA YouTube channel. The presentation took place at the 27th annual installment of the talk media industry’s longest running national gathering held at Hofstra University on Long Island this past June 7. The event, which took place at Hofstra’s Lawrence Herbert School of Communication, was presented by TALKERS in association with the university’s multi-award winning WRHU-FM/WRHU.org. The session, which is an annual highlight of the TALKERS conference, featured a stellar line up that included (in alphabetical order): Kraig T. Kitchin, CEO, Sound Mind, LLC; Chad Lopez, president, WABC, New York/Red Apple Audio Network; Chris Oliviero, market president, Audacy New York; Deborah Parenti, publisher Radio Ink/RBR+TVBR; Tavis Smiley, host/owner, KBLA, Los Angeles/Smiley AudioMedia; and Lisa Wexler, host, WICC, Bridgeport. The project will add 244 affordable apartments to the property, with 74 of which designated as supportive housing for formerly homeless individuals and families. On-site supportive care services will be provided by Services for the UnderServed. The project was designed by Marvel Architects.

Recently, July 16, New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced a record State investment of nearly $51 million for public safety on Long Island. Nassau County agencies received $1,494,692 and Suffolk County agencies received $1,307,677 for the GIVE funding cycle that runs from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025. This funding also includes approximately $21.1 million in one-time capital funding to 39 police departments and sheriffs’ offices – including $387,042 for the purchase of law enforcement technology and equipment to allow those agencies more effectively solve, reduce and prevent crime.
