Oblong Set to Host Solar Q and A
(Oblong) – The Village of Oblong has organized an event for those interested in learning more about solar energy. Oblong Mayor, Teresa Fielder, is reminding the public about an upcoming “Q and A” with a representative of Prolux Energy about the switch to solar. Fielder says to slow down door-to-door soliciting, Prolux Energy has agreed to hold the question and answer time for all residents who may be interested in solar panels, or just wish to more fully understand the process. This meeting is open to everyone. Fielder also reminds the public that the Village of Oblong is only hosting this meeting and is neither endorsing nor opposing the use of solar panels. The open house style Q and A will be held Friday, July 26th from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the Oblong Village Hall.
Oblong American Legion Receives Grant from ’54 Oblong
(Oblong) – The Oblong American Legion is the latest recipient of a donation from “’54 Oblong.” According to “’54 Oblong,” they awarded their “Summer 2024” grant of five thousand dollars to the Oblong American Legion Post 219 for the replacement of flags displayed uptown and at the Oblong Cemetery after several flags were damaged by a pre-Memorial Day storm.
Robinson 11u & 12u All Stars Both Undefeated Through State Pool Play
The city of Robinson has been rocking this weekend as both the 12 and 11u Little League All Stars have dominated State Tournament action through pool play. The 12u opened up Saturday with a 4-2 win over Champaign East. They shutout Western Springs 4-0. On Sunday Robinson finished their 3-0 start with a win over Sterling. The District 1 champs advance to the 8-team Elimination Bracket undefeated and looking to keep their dream of playing in the Little League World Series in tact. The Robinson 12u is in Elite 8 action at Sterling tonight at 5pm against Western Springs.

Woman Charged After Toddler Overdoses On Drugs
A Hopkinsville woman was charged with criminal abuse after an investigation into symptoms her child had at the hospital Saturday night.
