RIHA Hosts Annual Get Served Luncheon
Rhode Island Hospitality Association (RIHA) hosted its annual Get Served event on May 17 at Iron Works in Warwick. Rhode Island’s Speaker of the House Joseph Shekarchi, Senate Majority Leader Ryan Pearson, Senate Minority Leader Jessica de la Cruz, Senate Majority Whip Valarie Lawson and House Majority Leader Christopher Blazejewski were among legislators and trade professionals who served lunch to RIHA members, bringing together the industry for a meal with fellow members. The event also showcased the skills of ProStart high school students from the Cranston Area Career & Technical Center, offering them hands-on hospitality experience. Proceeds benefited the RI Hospitality Education Foundation, which helps continue the fund’s mission of growing the future of hospitality through the ProStart program, and the RI Hospitality Political Action Committee for its legislative efforts.
Rhode Island man arrested in fatal Connecticut crash
GRISWOLD, Conn. (WLNE) — Connecticut State Police said a Rhode Island man was arrested in connection with a fatal 2023 crash in Griswold, Connecticut. 30-year-old Cody Moorehead was charged with manslaughter in the second degree with a motor vehicle, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle under the influence, reckless driving, operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license, failure to drive right, and failure to drive in the proper lane.
