APD investigating Central and Louisiana homicide
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque police are investigating a fatal shooting in southeast Albuquerque Saturday morning. Officers responded to reports of shots fired just before 11:00 a.m. near Central and Louisiana. One person was taken to the hospital where he later died. The investigation is ongoing. Man accused of Albuquerque murder arrested in Roswell
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – New Mexico State Police arrested a man who had a warrant for murder and other charges in Albuquerque. NMSP said they arrested 18-year-old Juanito Montoya after an officer noticed a vehicle speeding in Roswell Tuesday morning. After nearly a decade of federal oversight, the Albuquerque Police Department announced it has achieved total compliance with hundreds of reforms mandated under a U.S. Department of Justice consent decree meant to rectify its excessive use of force. The independent monitor praised the department’s “significant progress” in his latest report on Monday — while acknowledging high concern about “the sheer number of officer-involved shootings of people in crisis or people with mental illness.”
Police investigate fatal shooting in northeast Albuquerque
A homicide investigation is underway after a man was shot and killed Saturday in northeast Albuquerque. A spokesperson for APD says officers responded to reports of a shooting on the 6800 block of Central Avenue N.E. around 11 a.m. Saturday. They found one man at the scene with at least one gunshot wound.
