ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The UFC World Heavyweight champion Jon Jones has pleaded not guilty to two misdemeanor charges against him on Wednesday. The charges stem from an incident with a drug-testing agent on March 30.

According to a criminal complaint, Jones is accused of threatening an agent from Drug Free Sport, who went to his Albuquerque home in an attempt to collect a random drug test.

The report states that the woman and her coworker arrived at Jones’ home around 4 p.m. She said Jones appeared drunk, got agitated, and threatened her. Jones told police that the worker got mad that he cussed at her and made the story up.

Jones is charged with assault and interference with communications. Judge Brittany Maldonado Malott released him on his own recognizance. As conditions for his continued release pending a bench trial, Jones was ordered by the court to avoid all contact with the alleged victim or anyone who may testify in this case and not to possess firearms or dangerous weapons among other conditions. His bench trial has been scheduled for Aug. 22.
