ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Police Department (APD) is investigating a shooting. It killed one man.

Officials said they were called to the area near Hannett Avenue and Girard Boulevard NE on Friday around 8:10 p.m. for a shooting.

Authorities believe a confrontation led to the shooting. They were alerted there was a dispute between a driver and the victim, who was on foot. The situation escalated, and the driver allegedly shot the man.

APD said the driver provided first aid to the man and stayed on scene.

The driver was released from custody while charges were being debated. Homicide detectives are looking into the case.
