Small forest fire burning southwest of Bondurant
The Bridger-Teton National Forest is fighting a new fire on the Big Piney Ranger District. The Horse Creek Fire was reported at 12:39 pm on Monday July 1, 2024 by Forest Service Fire crews who spotted smoke from the Fish Creek drainage. The fire is half-acre in size and is burning approximately 20-miles southwest of Bondurant, Wyoming near Blind Bull. Helitack firefighters are on scene and the cause is determined to be lightning.
Gusty winds, thunderstorms predicted for Cheyenne area
CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Cheyenne residents can expect a mix of weather conditions this week, starting with gusty winds today and potential thunderstorms tomorrow. According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, showers and possibly a few thunderstorms will continue through midday. Winds could reach up to 45 mph, especially along and west of the Laramie Range.
LMS & LVHS Students in Activities to be Drug Tested this fall
Lander middle and high school students involved in activities will be subject to drug tests, with the first rounds expected to begin as soon as August 20. The district has partnered with Sports Safe Testing Service of Ohio, which also works to provide drug testing for Goshen County, on the program, which aims to curb substance abuse among students.

Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps hold public rehearsal/performance at RSHS today
The Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps will be at Rock Springs High School today, July 1, for rehearsal. The rehearsals are open to the public. The run of the entire show is roughly 12 minutes long. From 6:15 – 8:30, the entire corps will be together rehearsing through their production. They are scheduled to do a run through of the show around 8:10 pm this evening on the Tiger Arena football field. The group is preparing for its summer performance schedule, which begins in Portland, Oregon, on July 5. The Trooper season will end at the DCI World Championships in Indianapolis, August 8-11.
