Southeast Wyoming sizzles in record-breaking June
CHEYENNE, Wyo. — June 2024 was exceptionally warm across southeast Wyoming, setting new temperature records in Cheyenne and Laramie. According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, both cities experienced their warmest average temperatures for the month of June this year. The previous record for Cheyenne dated back to 2006, while Laramie’s former record was from 2012.

Cody Police Bust Meth Lab When Woman Reports Boyfriend
Police in Cody, Wyoming, say they’ve busted a methamphetamine lab in town in a case the Cody Circuit Court is scheduled to hear this week. The investigation started at about 7 a.m. on June 23, when Cody Police Officer Thomas Wilshusen was on routine patrol and heard that a woman wanted to report her boyfriend for cooking meth in her home that day, according to an evidentiary affidavit filed in Cody Circuit Court.

Crews fight new fire in Bridger-Teton
JACKSON, Wyo. — The Bridger-Teton National Forest (BTNF) is working to suppress a fire in the Big Piney Ranger District. Dubbed “The Horse Creek Fire,” the blaze was reported at 12:39 p.m. on Monday, July 1 by Forest Service fire crews who noticed smoke coming from the Fish Creek drainage, according to a press release from BTNF. Helitack firefighters are working to control the burn, which was most likely caused by a lightning strike.
