Alderson holds annual 4th of July Parade

ALDERSON, WV (WVNS) -Independence Day celebrations start early in this small town in West Virginia.

The Town of Alderson held their 63 ^rd annual 4 ^th of July celebration.

Starting on Saturday, June 29 ^th and lasting through Monday, July 8 ^th , many made their way to Greenbrier County to celebrate.

One of the highlights of the celebration is the 2024 Grand Parade.

Jim Massey, Event Staff for the Alderson Celebrations, explained that the Town of Alderson was of full of people all day and night.

“It’s always the biggest fireworks in the state. The signs say the largest Fourth of July celebration in the state. I’d say it is. There’s a lot of people that come here. It stays packed all day,” said Massey.

With many parade floats being decorated, 59News had the chance to speak to a coach who showcased his team in the parade.

Jason Ward, Alderson Archery Coach, said his team has had nothing but success and being a part of the parade is an honor.

“Our elementary team, this is our second year of doing tournaments. We got second place in nationals in Lousiville, Kentucky and at the world competition at Daytona Beach in Florida we got fourth place overall. Our middle school team got 13 ^th in the worlds in 3D shooting,” said Ward to 59News.
