Most residents of Illinois know the rules of the road for driving but did you know there are laws for pedestrians too?. I drive to work early in the morning when it's still dark out. I'm surprised to see so many pedestrians. Many of them are on the street instead of the sidewalk, which doesn't feel safe to me. Parts of northern Illinois shook Monday as a 3.4 magnitude earthquake struck in the early morning hours. The earthquake was centered northwest of the DeKalb County village of Somonauk. According to the United States Geological Survey, the trembler had an estimated depth of about 6 miles. The earthquake could be felt as far as Joliet.

John Deere announces workforce reduction impacting salaried workers
IOWA (KWWL) -- John Deere is planning to cut some salaried employees from its workforce beginning next week, according to an email sent to workers. In the email KWWL obtained, the company says that an employee meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 24 at 7:30 a.m. A new round of workforce reductions is expected.
Kewanee Kiwanis Presents $10,000 in Scholarships to Six Local Students
Last Wednesday, the Kewanee Kiwanis presented six high school students from Kewanee and Wethersfield with $10,000 in scholarships. The scholarships were issued to Key Club Seniors from Kewanee High School and Wethersfield High School. Congratulations to Dillon Horrie, Landon Sauer, Kennedy Anderson from Wethersfield, Avery Yepsen, Eleanor Burkhardt, and Jillian Bennison from Kewanee. In a Facebook post, Kewanee Kiwanis said, “These young men and women are impressive to say the least.” Kewanee Kiwanis also presented Brea Cinnamon, with Fueling a Future, a check to help families with transportation costs for children requiring medical care.

IDPH, DNR And Rock Island Area Health Authorities Investigating Gastrointestinal Disease That Sickened At Least 12 People
The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Illinois Department of Natural Resources (DNR) are working with public health authorities in Rock Island and Iowa to investigate an outbreak of cryptosporidiosis, a gastrointestinal disease, in persons helping at a Rock Island County wildlife rehabilitation facility. Public health officials said at least 12 individuals have been identified with probable or confirmed disease following contact with raccoons at Pat’s Bandits in Hillsdale. The people are residents of Iowa and from four counties in Illinois.

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - After severe weather in Southern Wisconsin Monday night, owners of a supper club are cleaning up in the village of Kieler. The roof of Village Bar Supper Club was damaged by an EF1 tornado. The owners say they are glad no one was hurt, but will be closed until further notice.
