WIU raising money for Museum Studies lab renovation
Western Illinois University is undertaking a Museum Studies Lab Renovation Project on the Quad Cities campus in Moline. It has recently received significant funding totaling $21,500, from the Hunt and Diane Harris Fund at the Quad Cities Community Foundation, and the Shepherd B. Runge Memorial Endowment Fund at the QCCF as well.
New Monmouth College Softball Coach Not So New to Program
Central Illinois native Tyler Inselmann has been named Monmouth College softball coach. Inselmann has been part of the Monmouth softball staff for the last two seasons as an assistant coach. Prior to joining the Scots, Inselmann was an assistant coach at Tremont High School, just outside of Peoria. He spent three seasons with the Turks, winning regional titles in 2021 and 2022 before falling both seasons in the sectional round to state-power Rockridge.
Scots Earn 178 Academic All-Conference Selections
MONMOUTH, ILL. (07/15/2024) Monmouth College had 127 student-athletes, representing 18 sports, named Midwest Conference Academic All-Conference on Monday. The Scots had 15 student-athletes earn Academic All-Conference in multiple sports, resulting in 173 MWC Academic All-Conference selections plus five golfers from the SLIAC for a total of 178 honorees in the 2023-24 academic year.

Muscatine sewer projects delayed because of flooding
A Muscatine sanitary sewer replacement project at 813 East 8th St. has been delayed because of Mississippi River flooding, according to a news release. East 8th Street was scheduled to be closed to traffic between Poplar and Spring streets Monday-Friday, July 15-19, but because of the traffic detour for river flooding, the work has been postponed.
