Alexander County Authorities Arrest Fugitive From Massachusetts
55-year-old Donald Albert Thomas of Statesville was arrested last Friday (June 28) by Alexander County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged on a felony warrant as a fugitive from another state. Thomas has an active fugitive warrant issued by authorities in Marshfield, Massachusetts for felony stalking. An assault charge against Thomas is also pending in Iredell County.
Taylorsville Man Arrested on Drug & Firearms Charges
46-year-old Jason Lee Barnes of Taylorsville was arrested by Alexander County Sheriff’s Officers Wednesday on felony counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver methamphetamine, maintaining a vehicle, dwelling, or place for a controlled substance, and possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, along with misdemeanor counts of possession of a schedule IV controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Alexander County Narcotics Officers Charge Taylorsville Man
Following an investigation, Alexander County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Officers arrested 56-year old George Thomas Rich of Taylorsville on Wednesday. He’s charged with 4 counts of felony trafficking methamphetamine, felony maintaining a vehicle/dwelling or place for controlled substance, felony possession of methamphetamine and multiple counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. Rich is being held in the Alexander County Detention Center under a $500,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Alexander County District Court on Monday, July 1st.
Taylorsville Man Facing List Of Felony Drug And Weapons Charges
Jason Lee Banes, 46 of Taylorsville, was arrested by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday. He has been charged with felony possession of a firearm by a felon, felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver methamphetamine, felony maintaining a vehicle/dwelling or place for controlled substance, felony possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of schedule IV controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Barnes has previous charges in Alexander County that are pending. Those charges include unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, injury to personal property and probation violation. A larceny charge is also awaiting trial in Caldwell County.
Alexander County Man Jailed After Missing Court Dates On Felony Charges
Lawrence Christopher Ikerd, age 32 of Hiddenite, was arrested on Wednesday by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office after missing a court date. He was served warrants for failing to appear on two counts of felony obtaining property by false pretense. The charges date back to 2023. Ikerd is also facing 2023 charges in Catawba County on three counts of felony obtaining property by false pretense and felony larceny by employee. Ikerd remains in the Alexander County Detention Center under a secured bond of $90,000. An Alexander County Superior Court date is set for July 15th. Ikerd has a Catawba County Superior Court date scheduled for August 19th.
Stony Point Woman Charged
A Stony Point woman is facing misdemeanor drug charges that are the result of a shooting incident investigation earlier in the month. 36-year old Katasha Shavon Frazier has been charged by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office with misdeamanor possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is no longer in custody.
Maiden official will be new Alexander County manager
The town manager of Maiden will become the new county manager for Alexander County in August. William “Todd” Herms has 18 years of experience as a municipal manager. Herms began his role as Maiden town manager in July of 2008. Before that, Herms served as the town manager for Badin in Stanly County, Alexander County said in a news release.
Alexander County Man Facing Felony Charges
Davion Domonic Peterson, age 29 of Taylorsville, has been arrested by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office. He’s charged with two counts of felony possession with intent to manufature/ sell or deliver schedule II controlled substance and felony possession of schedule II controlled substance. Peterson is no longer listed as an inmate in the Iredell County Detention Center.
Alexander County Man Charged With Murder In Connection To Overdose Death
33-year-old Mathew Douglas Roop of Rink Dam Road in Taylorsville was arrested Tuesday (June 25) by authorities in Catawba County. According to the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, Roop was indicted by a Catawba County Grand Jury for second-degree murder, death by distribution, and sale and delivery of schedule II controlled substance.

Residents of Caldwell and Alexander County are part of a group of suspects recently arrested in a drug enforcement operation. The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office recently conducted a comprehensive drug round-up. This operation, part of the agency’s continuous investigations into drug trafficking, specifically targeted those described as career and repeat offenders.
Statesville Man Charged By Alexander County Sheriff’s Office
On Friday, June 21st, Alexander County Deputies responded to a location in Stony Point and arrested Jacob Lee Mitchell, age 29 of Statesville. He is charged with felony breaking and entering a motor vehicle and injury to personal property. He was placed in the Alexander County Detention Center and later released under a bond of $5,000. He was scheduled for District Court on Monday.
