Taylorsville Man Facing Catawba County Charges
Monte Matthew Caudle, age 50 of Taylorsville was taken into custody on Saturday by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office. He was served a warrant from Catawba County for motor vehicle rental fraud. He has been transferred to the Catawba County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in District Court today in Newton.
Cougar Stadium Turf And Track Project Is Underway !
Nearly a month after the project was expected to begin, the turf and track project is underway at Alexander Central’s Glenn Wilson Field at Cougar Stadium. A state grant of $2.5 million is being used to install a new state of the art synthetic playing surface and a new 8-lane track. The money is part of $62.8 million dollars statewide that lawmakers set aside in the last year’s state budget for athletic upgrades at schools. The Alexander County Board of Education approved a contract on June 5th with the understanding that the work would be completed in time for the opening Football game of the season which is August 23rd vrs longtime rival Statesville. The project will also include an eight-lane track, a new high jump, two long jump/triple jump pits, and a new pole vault runway and pit. The expansion will allow AC to host bigger track meets with more teams.

The Alexander County Board of Elections encourages local residents to attend an information session about becoming a Precinct Official on Monday, July 29 at 6:00 p.m. at the Taylorsville Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall (75 2nd Street SW, Taylorsville). This information session will provide answers to questions for anyone who has an interest in working as a precinct official.
Six charged in Alexander County shooting, including two juveniles
Six people have been charged in a June shooting that seriously injured a 17-year-old in Alexander County. The shooting occurred on June 6 along South Thomas Lane in Stony Point. Around midnight, deputies with the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office found a 17-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Alexander County Sheriff Chad Pennell said previously.
Statesville Man Charged In Connection To Stony Point Shooting
On Friday, July 5th, the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office made another arrest in connection with a June shooting incident in Stony Point. Chadrick Ty-Quan McGee, age 28 of Statesville is charged with felony accessory after the fact. He is being held in the Alexander County Detention Center without bond.

Parole Absconder Surrenders To Alexander County Detention Center
Christopher Wayne Jarvis, age 31 of Statesville surrendered to the Alexander County Detention Center on Friday, July 5th. Jarvis was wanted by the Office of Probation and Parole for violating his probation. He is serving an 18-month suspended sentence in Alexander County after a drug conviction in 2023. Jarvis remains in the Alexander County Detention Center with a bond listed at $10,000. July 29th is his scheduled court date in Taylorsville.
Taylorsville Man Charged With Vandalism
Timothy Andrew McDuffie, age 45 of Taylorsville, was arrested on Wednesday by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office and charged vandalism with damage to personal property. He has been released under a bond of $2,500. A court date is listed for August 5th.
Wilkesboro Man Detained In Alexander County
The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Wilkesboro man on Monday after he failed to appear in court. 21-year old Andrew Scott Villagomez is charged with felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, reckless driving to endanger and failure to heed blue light and siren. The charges date back to July of last year after Villagomez was taken into custody by the North Carolina Highway Patrol. The chase ended at the State Employees Credit Union on Highway 16 in Taylorsville. Villagomez remains in the Alexander County Detention Center with a secured bond listed at $20,000. A court appearance is scheduled for July 15th in Taylorsville.
Statesville Resident Arrested By Alexander County Deputies
Joshua William Griffin, age 27 of Statesville, was arrested on July 2nd by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office. He’s charged with two-counts of vandalism with damage to personal property. As of earlier today, Griffin remains in the Alexander County Detention Center with bond set at $5,000.
