    Chuck Fowler returns to Alexandria Council seat with no opposition; see other races here

    One Alexandria City Council member returned to office Friday at the end of candidate qualifying when no one else signed up to run for his seat.

    Chuck Fowler will retain his District 5 seat, but some of his fellow council members weren't so lucky.

    Qualifying ended in Rapides Parish and across the state Friday afternoon for the Tuesday, Nov. 5 elections.

    Election info

    • The deadline to register to vote either by mail or in person is Monday, Oct. 7. For those who want to register online through the Louisiana Secretary of State's GeauxVote online system , the deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 15.
    • Early voting will be held between Oct. 18-29, with the exception of Sundays, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    • The deadline to request an absentee ballot is Friday, Nov. 1 by 4:30 p.m., unless you are in the military or voting from overseas. You can request one from your parish registrar of voters or from the state office through its Voter Portal .
    • The deadline for registrars to receive absentee ballots is Monday, Nov. 4 by 4:30 p.m., unless you are in the military or voting from overseas.
    • Polls will open on Election Day at 6 a.m. and remain open until 8 p.m.
