‘Captive State: Louisiana and the Making of Mass Incarceration’ now on view at HNOC
Throughout Louisiana’s history, people in power have used systems of enslavement and incarceration to hold others captive for punishment, control and exploitation. After more than six years of research and preparation, the Historic New Orleans Collection will debut a limited-time exhibition titled “Captive State: Louisiana and the Making of Mass Incarceration” that examines the roots of the state’s current distinction as the incarceration capital of the world.

APD investigating shooting at Levin, Essie Streets
ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened on July 20 around 10:50 p.m. Officers responded to a local hospital in regards to someone who had been shot Saturday night.
