SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – A possible mountain lion spotting near the Tea Area high school has been confirmed to be a deer instead, according to officials. Earlier on Monday, Dr. Jennifer Nebelsick Lowery said a mountain lion was spotted “passing through the conservation area west of the high school.” After 4:15 p.m., an update from Nebelsick Lowery said “the review of footage and area indicates there is no mountain lion.”

Longtime grocery store location starts coming back to life with new owner
After a delay of two years, work has begun on a grocery store that will replace a longtime staple of an east-side neighborhood. Owner Efrain Patino said he hopes the new store will be open in September. Sioux Falls Security Guard Shoots at Vehicle Driving at Him
An aggravated assault led to a series of gunshots being fired early Saturday morning in Sioux Falls. Dakota News Now reports the incident occurred on Saturday, (July 13) around 2:30 AM inside a business in the 2200 block of West Madison Street. The police report states that two security guards received word about a disturbance inside the building. The guards removed everyone from the business and then went inside to investigate further, upon entering they discovered a fight going on that involved four men.

Claremont residents object to plan to load tallow in town
CLAREMONT, S.D.(Aberdeen Insider) — A plan to haul liquid beef tallow to Claremont and ship it out on rail cars has met substantial opposition. About 40 local residents attended a community meeting at the city hall on Thursday, July 11 and made it clear they aren’t keen on the idea. Their primary concern is that the tanker trucks hauling the tallow from DemKota Ranch Beef in Aberdeen to the rail line in Claremont will damage streets in town.
