ALEXANDRIA, Va. ( DC News Now ) — A car accident and personal injury law firm based in Alexandria is ensuring that elementary students in the area are ready for the 2024-25 school year.

On Aug. 10, Blaszkow Legal PLLC is hosting its 2nd “ Project Backpack Giveaway .” From 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., the firm will give away more than 2,000 backpacks full of supplies to elementary students within the Alexandria Public School district.

Each bag will include a wide ruled notebook, two pocket folders, a box of No. 2 pencils, a pencil sharpener, a pencil case, an eraser, a glue stick, a water bottle, a pen and crayons. All backpacks will be given to students on a first come first serve basis and while supplies last.

According to the firm’s website , Attorney Joseph Blaszkow first started planning “Project Backpack” in 2022 to give back to the community, specifically the younger generation of Alexandrians.

This came after he was told there was a significant need for school book bags and supplies for new and returning students.

The next year, Blaszkow Legal held its first giveaway, which focused on the John Adams Elementary School. Now, the firm is hoping to help elementary students across the City of Alexandria.

Saturday’s event will include food, games, prizes, and activities outside for families and children to enjoy.
