Locavino Wins Fifth Wine Spectator Award of Excellence
Locavino wine café in Downtown Silver Spring has received Wine Spectator’s fifth consecutive Award of Excellence. In the 2024 Wine Spectator awards announced last month, more than 3,700 restaurants worldwide were recognized for their wine programs. Locavino was once again the only locally owned restaurant among the five restaurants in Montgomery County, which includes The Capital Grille, Fogo de Chão, Morton’s The Steakhouse, and Seasons 52.

As Baltimore braces itself for another sweltering day, the National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory in effect from 11 AM this morning to 8 PM this evening for multiple areas including, the DC area, parts of Maryland, Virginia, and the western shores of the Chesapeake. Baltimore and Washington DC are expected to hit the upper 90s with heat indices soaring between 105-108, according to the National Weather Service.

Fugitive captured after he's caught urinating in public in Rockville
If you are currently wanted by the police, the smartest mode of operation is to avoid engaging in further illegal activity that might attract the attention of law enforcement. That strategy eluded an individual who allegedly was caught urinating in public in the 2000 block of Veirs Mill Road in Rockville on June 29, 2024. A Rockville City police officer ran the 32-year-old suspect's name through the system, and learned that the man had an outstanding warrant for his arrest, for failure to appear in court. He was taken into custody on both matters, police report.
