Monmouth-Roseville Football Opens 2024 Season with Statement win over Mercer County.
This past Friday night marked an official start to the 2024-2025 Monmouth-Roseville football season, as the Titans hosted their new Three Rivers conference rival Mercer County at Coach Dobry Field in Monmouth. Coming off back to back to back IHSA playoff appearances, the Titans were looking to continue their momentum and that is exactly what they did in, coming out with a statement 50-14 win over the Golden Eagles.

United Junior High Softball Tops M-R Titans
The Monmouth-Roseville Jr High softball team fell to United Thursday night 12-5. United jumped up 2-0 after the top of the 1st inning but the Titans scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st with an rbi single by Ella Talivaa and a 2 rbi single by Lesly Raigoza. It stayed that way until the top of the 4 when United plated 4 runs to take the lead 6-4. In the bottom of the 4th, Nayloni Santos led off with a single and when stealing 2nd base scored on an error to cut the lead to 6-5. United plated 6 runs in the final two innings to secure the win. For the Titans, Nayloni Santos was 2-2 with 2 BB and scored twice. Emily Stockdale was 2-4 and Adi Thornton was also 2-4. Mia Anderson struck out 11 for MRJH. Monmouth-Roseville falls to 3-4 on the season and will play at Mercer Co on September 3rd.

Sherrard Girls Cross Country Wins Rocket Run
The Sherrard girls cross country team won its first meet of the season at the Rocket Run in Rock Falls Wednesday. The Tigers finished with a team score of 54, five points better than second-place Ridgewood’s 59. Sherrard’s Anna Churchill (20:13) and Beth Churchill (20:14) took third and fourth place individually. Kylie Mathis finished 15th for Sherard.

Monmouth-Roseville (1-0) outscored Mercer County (0-1) 44-6 in the second half to defeat the Golden Eagles 50-14 at Coach Dobry Field in Monmouth Friday. Mercer County led 8-6 at halftime before turning the ball over five times in the second half. The Titans finished the game with 322 rushing yards, 241 of them came in the second half. Payton Thompson rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries.
