Several car fires doused in southern Maine
PORTLAND, Maine — Firefighters raced to put out a car fire in the parking lot of Hannaford on Forest Avenue in Portland Wednesday evening. The fire department said a hybrid vehicle caught fire just after 7 p.m. Firefighters said the potential for battery involvement in the fire "intensified the situation," but crews were able to contain the fire to the engine compartment.
