Third Annual Storm Lake Oktoberfest Celebration Scheduled
The third annual Oktoberfest Celebration in Storm Lake is scheduled for October 19th from 6 to 10pm at Lake Avenue Lounge. Free food will be offered while supplies last, as well as German beer. There will also be an Oktoberfest costume contest with prizes included. Live music will be performed by Malek’s Fisherman Band.
ADM Softball Starts State Tourney Today Against Fort Dodge
The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Softball team gears up for their first postseason game of the 2024 season today in Fort Dodge. The Tigers will be battling versus the host school of the Fort Dodge Dodgers this afternoon at 5:15pm. This will be the sixth meeting between these teams as the Dodgers has taken all five previously. Last year, ADM fell 8-3 to Fort Dodge in the Class 4A Quarterfinal game. Before that, the Tigers took on the Dodgers in 2021, 2020, then two games in 2012.
DCG Softball to Play in 4A Quarterfinals
Dallas Center – Grimes softball will be looking to begin an exciting week of softball today when they compete in the 4A state tournament in Fort Dodge. This 4A quarterfinal will find the two seed Mustangs against the seven seed Carlisle Wildcats. DCG is 32-8 on the season while Carlisle is 34-8.
Hampton-Dumont Breaks Ground on Summer Projects, Preparing for Bond Vote in November
The Hampton-Dumont School District is preparing for another bond vote in November. The school hosted an information booth on its proposed $17 million bond referendum vote during last week’s Franklin County Fair. Hampton-Dumont High School Principal, Matt Trosky, tells RadioOnTheGo News administrators were able to inform the public about the projects the district would like to move forward with.

CCSD School Board Approved Of $213K Project For Fairview Playground Resurfacing
The Carroll Community School District’s Fairview Elementary playground will look a little different for the upcoming school year, with the resurfacing project approved during Monday’s Board of Education meeting. GameTime with Cunningham Recreation has been awarded the contract to resurface the area, replacing the woodchips with a soft, rubber surface. Superintendent Dr. Casey Berlau says the district is looking to spend just over $213,000 for this project for two main reasons.
City Of Manning Donating A Newly Developed Lot To The IKM-Manning School District
The Manning City Council has approved donating one of the Stadium View Drive lots to the IKM-Manning School District for the school’s upcoming trade project. Back in June, the school district approved partnering up with Manning Municipal Utilities (MMU) to provide students with a work-based learning of the different trades used when constructing a new house. The City of Manning will donate one of the lots from the Stadium View pocket neighborhood to be the permanent location for the students’ project. Once completed, the house will become available for purchase by interested buyers. The other homes in the neighborhood are currently being designed and constructed by Origin Homes, a custom-home building contractor based out of West Des Moines. Carroll City Council To Review Ziegler, ECHO Group Developer Agreements And Plans For Burned Shelter House At Monday’s Meeting
Economic development will be the primary focus of the Carroll City Council’s upcoming meeting on Monday. The council convenes at 5:15 p.m. at Carroll City Hall on July 22. One of their first items of business is to cancel the public hearing for the Ziegler Caterpillar development agreement. City Manager Aaron Kooiker says it is important to understand this is a procedural cancellation, and Ziegler remains dedicated to building a new retail site on Carroll’s western edge.

Iowa National Guard unit will return 150 soldiers back from Middle East deployment
On Friday, the Des Moines Airbase hosted a special “welcome home” ceremony for a group of National Guard soldiers returning from a year-long deployment in the Middle East. The federal government activated the 831st Engineer Vertical Construction Company (EVCC) to support U.S. Central Command in a territory encompassing 27 countries. This encompassed Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
