Drivers in Alhambra are being warned to watch out for a new scam involving fake parking tickets.

The Alhambra Police Department said scammers are leaving fake tickets with QR codes on windshields. When people scan the QR code, they either download malware or are redirected to a malicious website.

Alhambra police posted photos on social media to show drivers what real parking tickets and the scam ones look like. Police are asking people to take a moment to examine their parking ticket and take a close look at it.

Real parking tickets don’t have a QR code on them and will refer people to www.cityofalhambra.org for payment.

People who get a fake parking ticket in Alhambra are asked to report it to Alhambra police at (626) 570-5119.
