    Alhambra 4-H Alumni Wanted

The Morning Glories 4-H will have a float in the Alhambra Parade Aug. 2-3.

They are looking for anyone that belonged to any 4-H club in Alhambra to come join the fun.

Young and old will ride together in unity of the bond that exists for all 4-H members. The theme for this float will be “Old Time Farm.” Participants will sit on hay bales and dress as farmers.

If possible bring candy to throw out to the children.

RSVP to Debra Stocker on Facebook , to determine how big the float needs to be.

    Museum Volunteers Needed

A historical museum of Alhambra will be available in the park dance hall during the Alhambra Homecoming and 175 Anniversary celebration.

The will feature old pictures of the town and businesses, as well as old memorabilia from the last 175 years.

Volunteers are needed to sit in the hall (air conditioned) to answer questions and keep an eye on the displays.

If willing to donate an hour of your time, please contact Marilyn Eyman at 618-795-5389.

    Alhambra Homecoming

The Village of Alhambra will have a joint celebration with their annual homecoming and incorporating the 175th anniversary of the settling of Alhambra.

Festivities take place Aug. 2-4. On Friday and Saturday evenings there will be parades at 6:30 p.m.

Other activities will include a bounce house, model train show, tractors on display, a tractor drive 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. on Saturday with a pedal tractor pull at 1 p.m.

There will also be a gun raffle, basket raffles, good food, beer and soda.

The Dance Hall will have a museum of the history of Alhambra complete with pictures.

Enjoy the music of Cheers Band on Friday night and Exit 36 and Jessie G on Saturday.

A fireworks display will take place Saturday at dusk.

    175th Anniversary Celebration

Alhambra will celebrate the Alhambra Homecoming Aug. 2-4. Most of the anniversary celebration takes place Sunday, Aug. 4.

A worship service will be held at 10 a.m. at the park with the Restore Christian Church.

Come dressed in your favorite era for the years 1849-1999. Break out the granny dresses and sun bonnets, poodle skirts, mini skirts and bell-bottom trousers. Guys, get your James Dean look on. Dress up and join the fun.

The Vintage Fashion Show begins at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Hitz Home Beat the Heat Therapy

When it’s really too hot to be outside, with a little ingenuity the residents at Hitz Home find ways to stay entertained indoors.

They start off with a few games of bingo followed by playing with kittens. After a few parties it was decided that anytime is margarita time.

This is the way smart senior citizens beat the heat of summer.

Alhambra Fire Department Water Training Drill

Fire personnel from the Alhambra and Grantfork Fire Department joined in water training drills at Alhambra Park.

Volunteers from both departments give up their free time to further their life saving skills for the benefit of our communities.

If you are 18 years of age, male or female, our fire departments are asking for help to keep our communities safe.

    Whisker Derby

Anyone that has seen the pictures of the last whisker derby will want to be sure and get in on the fun and go down in the history of the village with being in the 175th Anniversary Whisker Derby.

Come on guys, put away those razors. Even if it is short notice, let’s see how great a beard you can grow in about two weeks.

Pictures and derby after the Vintage Fashion Show on Aug. 4 around 1:30 p.m.
