BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WLBT) - Alcorn State football has high expectations heading into the 2024 season. On Tuesday, despite entering his first year as the head coach of the Braves, Cedric Thomas and Alcorn have been predicted by the SWAC to win the western division, receiving 11 first-place votes. Alcorn State just missed out on a SWAC Championship appearance last season, finishing the year 7-4.

A man convicted of fatally shooting a delivery driver during a robbery attempt in 1998 was executed Thursday evening in Alabama.Keith Edmund Gavin was pronounced dead at 6:32 p.m. CDT following a chemical injection at the William C. Holman Correctional Facility in southwest Alabama, authorities said. HONOLULU (WSFA) - WSFA 12 News is mourning the loss of our longtime former news director, Scott Duff, who died early Wednesday morning. He was just 59. Scott first arrived at WSFA’s studios, then located on Delano Avenue, in October 2006. He’d been given the opportunity to follow his boss, Ken Selvaggi, from Topeka, Kansas, to Montgomery. Ken was serving as vice president and general manager at the time and named Scott to lead the newsroom.
