A 19-year-old rodeo star, Emma Brungardt, tragically passed away in a single-vehicle accident in rural Kansas on Friday night. Brungardt, who was crowned Miss Teen Rodeo Kansas in 2024, was a passenger in a 2007 Ford F250 that veered off the road at a Y intersection and hit a row of trees, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. Despite wearing her seatbelt, she did not survive the crash, while the driver and four other passengers sustained injuries.

Brungardt was a sophomore at Colby Community College, where she studied equine management and participated in rodeo events like goat tying, breakaway roping, and team roping. The college confirmed her death, and the rodeo team expressed their condolences online, remembering her as a kind and positive individual. The driver was an 18-year-old from Colorado, and the other injured passengers included members of the college's rodeo team.
