Phoenix restaurant, Cocina Madrigal Tacos and Tequila

    2021-08-22

PHOENIX, AZ - Cocina Madrigal Tacos and Tequila is a Phoenix-based restaurant located at 16th Street and Broadway Road. Handcrafted tacos and enchiladas, fresh strong salads, as well as made-from-scratch specialties are the focus of the restaurant.

Leo Madrigal, the chef, was born in Mexico City. As a teenager, he began cooking in the megacity. He then moved to Houston, and then to Phoenix around 30 years ago. Madrigal favors the tastes of Mexico City and Oaxaca in his cooking, although his approach isn't entirely Mexican.

Chef Madrigal, who spent more than 20 years as a corporate chef at Z'Tejas Southwestern Grill, opened the Cocina Madrigal restaurant in 2018.

In 2020, the restaurant was named among Yelp's top five places to eat and the number five restaurant for the new year.

On the menu, you can find tacos, steak, al pastor, achiote-rubbed chicken, and shrimp, among other things. Enchiladas with fillings like beef birria and green chile pork, as well as pasta dishes, chicken breast with artichokes, mushrooms, and soy-mustard cream are also available there.

Salads, grilled romaine shindig, and a bowl of Jamaican mixed greens are served for light eaters.

There are approximately 105 seats in the restaurant and it has a patio area that will open after the summer. Go to the back and you can find a bar area, complete with TVs prominently placed in the corners.

If you want to try the delicious cuisine, Cocina Madrigal is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The place serves dine-in and takeaway.
